How do I find a lesson in the lesson library?
Members have two ways to find lessons in the Instant Lessons Library: browse
or search the library.
"Browse library" displays all of the Instant Lessons™ in
three categories: lesson type, lesson topic and student level.
"Search library" provides a powerful way to search the lessons
and resources to find what you're looking for. Search on keywords, student
level and lesson topics. You can also search for grammar points, such as "past
continuous".
The Instant Lessons™ layout is carefully designed for printing. Just
open the lesson plan you want to use in your browser window and print it out.
The Adobe Acrobat Reader format is the best format for printing the lessons.
They can also be viewed from within the Teachers’ Room by clicking
on the title of the lesson which will open in a new window. You can also print
from this window.
Instant Lessons are organized into four main sections. Each
has a specific educational goal.
1. Pre-Reading Activities: These activities encourage students
to begin thinking about the topic of the article. They raise student interest
and introduce important concepts and vocabulary using one or more skills.
Designed to take at least 10 minutes, the pre-reading activities may take
longer if the teacher needs to focus closely on a specific point or if there
is great student interest in the topic. Estimated Time: 10 minutes or more.
2. Reading Activities: These activities focus on the article
using a variety of different reading skills. They encourage students to read
and understand the article, practice different reading techniques, learn vocabulary
from the article and focus on a language point. Estimated Time: Up to 40 minutes.
3. Post-Reading Activities: The teacher can either focus
on one skill using a theme, concept or language point or practice a combination
of skills. Students use the content of the article to discuss, consider or
develop what they've learned. This section offers a selection of extension
activities that can take as little as 15 minutes or last well over an hour.
Estimated Time: 15 minutes to one hour or more.
4. Teachers' Notes and Answer Key: Each Instant Lesson includes
teaching guidelines and answers to exercises. Our goal is to support teachers
by giving them as much time as possible to focus on specific learning needs.
Teachers' notes may also contain parts of an exercise not included in the
student handouts.
How do I find a grammar worksheet or a weekly warmer for my class?
From the Teachers' Room, click on "Search Resources" in the left
hand menu. There are two ways to find these resources in the resource library:
browse or search the library. You can browse the library by clicking "Go".
This displays all of the Anna Grammar/Max Vocab/Instant Workbook resources.
You can also use the dropdown options by lesson type to choose a specific
type of resource.
You can also search using keywords. If looking for a weekly warmer as a fun
way to begin your class, you can search by warmer type: Introduction, Spoken
Fluency, Grammar or Vocabulary. You are also able to search by level.
Then just open the resource you want to use in your browser window and print
it out.
Using "my lessons"
"My lessons" is an easy and convenient way to bookmark your favorite
lessons in the Instant Lessons™ Library. Two folders are included with
each membership to get you started. These folders can be deleted or added
to at any time. For example you may want to add a folder to group lessons
for a particular class or level, or search through the library to build a
complete course. This is an excellent way to locate your favorite lessons
and save them for future use. You can start to build your own textbook of
lessons by simply creating folders based on topic, student level or even lesson
type.

Technical issues
Why do I keep getting logged off the website?
There are three usual causes for this problem.
1. There is a timeout setting in the website that logs users out of the website
automatically after an hour of continuous connection time. This is a safeguard
against Internet connections that hang without disconnecting. If this happens
while you are actively using the site please login again.
2. There may be a problem with your Internet service provider. Please contact
them directly for more information.
3. Someone else may be using your account login name and password. If you
suspect this, please change your login details. Learn
how here.
I can't log in. What should I do?
We recommend you use a browser like IE, Netscape, Safari or Firefox to log
in with. Please check that session cookies are enabled on your browser. If
you need help enabling cookies, you can email helpdesk@english-to-go.com
for instructions. Please tell us what browser you are using. (AOL users may
have difficulty logging in and should minimize AOL, and should instead use
an approved browser to log in with.)
I've emailed english-to-go.com twice but you haven't replied. What should
I do?
If you have any problems, please email helpdesk@english-to-go.com.
Sometimes you may not receive a reply from helpdesk because your email program's
spam filter is blocking our emails. You may want to add our helpdesk address
to your list of approved emails or check the contents of your spam folder to
see if a message from us has been sent there.
