Max provides interesting and insightful information on the history
of specific words.
Max Vocab creates online worksheets and articles looking at where our
language comes from. For example, chocolate is a vegetable containing
vitamin B and iron, and some chocolate scholars believe the word chocolate
came about because the original pronunciation sounded rather unwelcome
in elegant Spanish speaking society... especially when describing something
brown. To find out more, read the worksheet.
A way with Words!
English-to-go also has Max Vocab vocabulary worksheets.
The student worksheets at various levels help with those tricky elements
of English and to give practice with various word families.
These resources have their own library which can be used at any time
with a Gold membership and can be used in addition to Instant Lessons
and Instant Workbook.

Your site is very good. I often surf for ESL material with disappointing results. I'm happy to find useful and practical lessons and activities.

"Max Vocab is a delightful and entertaining journey through the origins and development of some of the more interesting words in English, told with humour and insight. For an English teacher in a country with few pedagogical materials and where English is a foreign language, this is the best site I have ever seen. Thank you.
